📱 You Don't Need Cold DMs to Get Music Gigs!
If you’re anything like me, the idea of cold messaging strangers to find work feels… exhausting!
I’m an introvert by nature and when I first started trying to “put myself out there” I thought cold DMs and emails were just part of the job.
But looking back, the best opportunities I’ve ever had (my favorite scoring gigs, my teaching work with ThinkSpace, even a recent $1000 music project)...
All came without cold pitching myself to anyone!
The truth is:
- 👉 People don’t want to hire people they don't know, like, or trust.
- 👉 You have a better chance at being hired when they already feel connected to you.
And that connection doesn’t always happen through cold outreach... it happens through showing up, sharing your story, and building real relationships over time.
In my latest video, I break down:
-
Why figuring out the kind of music work you actually want matters way more than just chasing gigs
-
How I found opportunities without spamming people
-
The idea of “opportunity points” and how showing up consistently leads to work without feeling salesy
-
Why being an introvert is actually an advantage if you approach networking the right way
If you’ve ever felt stuck, invisible, or overwhelmed by the idea of “selling yourself,”
I think this video will give you a new perspective and hopefully a bit of relief too!

And if you want to dive even deeper, I created a free 3-part series called The Composer’s Roadmap, where Day 3 specifically addresses overcomig the “visibility block”... the thing that I see hold so many composers back!
Either way, remember:
You don’t have to become someone you’re not to build the career you want.
🦖 Alexandre Desplat Takes the Jurassic Reins!
Have you seen the news? With Jurassic World getting a soft reboot this summer, it looks like we officially have a new composer taking over for Michael Giacchino!
