π» Cinematic Frozen VS Intimate Strings...
Jan 22, 2022
Cinematic Frozen Strings has been out for just around 2 weeks now and I'm FINALLY getting around to discussing it! BUT this time, I didn't want to just review Spitfire Audio's most recent Originals string library...no, no no!
Last week, Spitfire Audio made a post quickly going over the differences between their two string libraries: Cinematic Frozen Stringsand Intimate Strings!
So that inspired me to take that idea and turn it into a YouTube video comparing these two seemingly similar libraries!
Cinematic Frozen Strings VS Intimate Strings!
Similarities
-
BOTH fall under the Spitfire Audio Originals series ($29, £29, €29)
-
BOTH are small ensemble string libraries
-
BOTH were recorded at AIR studios
-
BOTH offer Close and Tree mic signals
Differences
-
Cinematic Frozen Strings: 8 player ensemble
-
Intimate Strings: 25 player ensemble
-
Cinematic Frozen Strings: Experimental techniques
-
Intimate Strings: Traditional techniques
-
Cinematic Frozen Strings: Super Close mic signal
-
Intimate Strings: Vintage mic Signal
These are just some quick comparisons but after diving into each set of techniques, I'm definitely blown away by these libraries. On paper, they both offer an intimate quality of sound thanks to the small ensembles. The thing is, these two libraries are just so fundamentally different:
Intimate Strings- warm, full, and lush
Cinematic Frozen Strings- icy, fragile, and crystal clear
If you want to know more about Intimate Strings and Cinematic Frozen Strings, then definitely watch my full comparison video of these two libraries here!
