I can't believe it...

The behemoth in the notation software space that is Finale is being discontinued.

This is just absolutely wild to me!

In the last 24 hours alone, I've heard so many stories from composers saying they've been a Finale user since the 90's and early 2000's.

I'm sure this is a massive blow for people who've stuck with the software all this time!

Just know, I'm thinking about you today and hope that your transition to your next software is smooth and seamless!

I'm sure there are a ton of Dorico and Sibelius YouTubers having a "How To..." field day with this news.

In case you've missed it, the company put out a statement yesterday stating:

"Finale is no longer the future of the notation industry. Instead of releasing new versions of Finale that would offer only marginal value to our users, we’ve made the decision to end its development."

I'm honestly shocked but I understand the decision. Instead, the company threw their full support behind the relative newbie in the space, Dorico!

This is a huge step forward for Dorico which has already made a name for itself over the past few years. (Looking at you Alan Silvestri! 👀)

So if you're a Finale user looking for a new notation home, you might want to consider Dorico!

MakeMusic (Finale) is working with Steinberg (Dorico) to give current users adiscount on Dorico Pro 5.

Users of any version of Finale or PrintMusic can purchase Dorico Pro for $149!

Check out the Finale statement if you want to learn more about the decision and what your best next options are!

Side note, I am NOT affiliated with by the teams behind Finale or Dorico. Just thought this was huge news!
