Nothing beats the feeling of a fresh musical idea popping into your head!

Maybe it’s a melody, a chord progression, or just a texture. You can almost hear it become something big!

But then comes the hardest part…actually doing something with it.

Where do you even start?

How do you take that raw idea and shape it into something real?

That’s what my latest video is about!

For the first time, I sat down and really reflected on my own creative process.

Not the idealized, perfectly structured version that I would normally want to share on YouTube…

But the actual messy, uncertain, and sometimes incredibly frustrating way I turn an idea into a piece of music.

And after years of exploring different approaches, I realized that there is no one right way to do this!

Some composers sketch everything out on piano. Others orchestrate straight into their DAW. Some work from instinct, while others plan everything in advance. I’ve tried a little of everything over the years…

And I’m still figuring it out!

But what I do know is that the process of developing an idea is personal and meaningful for everyone.

So in this video, I’m breaking it down—how I approach an idea, how I let it evolve, and how I slowly shape it into something that feels complete.

It’s not perfect. But that’s also the point.

If you’ve ever had an idea but weren’t sure what to do next, I think you’ll enjoy this video!
