Two months ago, I started a mini hiatus from YouTube. It actually wasn't intentional and it got to a point where I found it more and more difficult to come back- like the longer I waited, the harder it became. Then there were two things that kept me in this paralysis mode:
😔 Disappointment: I've been building this channel for years, and the idea that I let my audience down felt awful.
😰 Fear of Losing Impact: Every composer hears about algorithms and engagement metrics. Imagine how difficult it would be to gain back that momentum.
But I realized... worrying about metrics is missing the entire point.
Here's the breakthrough from my break:
🤩 It's Not About Beating the Algorithm, It's About Building Value
While I wasn't posting, here's what STILL happened:
👀 New viewers found my old videos (proving that content on YouTube has a long lifespan).
💬 Comments kept coming in, showing people were still getting help from the work I'd done.
📈 My channel grew, even without that constant "content grind."
This made me realize: Consistent, value-driven content is the long game.
Forget about trying to please the algorithm. - what matters most is that you’re genuinely trying to show up for others in the music community! And that is what creates a compounding effect over time. Remember, one post doesn’t have to make or break your channel or profile!
🤔 So, what does this mean for you?
❎ No more "Should I Post?" Guilt: Even small, seemingly imperfect shares matter.
📲 Focus on ONE Platform: Pick where your ideal audience hangs out, be visible there.
📊 Quit Worrying About the Metrics: Engagement is great, but real connection is the goal.
Here's my challenge (and I'm taking it too!):
Let's make THIS week about sharing value. Reply and tell me:
1️⃣ Your ONE biggest social media frustration
2️⃣ ONE piece of knowledge you can share with other composers
