šŸŽ» I'm Building My Full Orchestral Template with Musio

Recently, during a ThinkSpace Technical Rundown webinar, there was a great conversation on whether orchestral templates are still relevant OR if they’ve become outdated!? As someone who absolutely loves structure and working with systems, templates have always been a core part of my workflow! But…if I’m being honest—sometimes my tendency to hyper-optimize and fine-tune can get a bit out of hand. And sometimes I find myself spending more time on the setup than actually writing music! šŸ˜… So, I decided to create a new template from scratch but with the goal of finding a balance between a reliable structure regardless of project and enough flexibility to grow beyond the template itself.

Recently, during a ThinkSpace Technical Rundown webinar, there was a great conversation on whether orchestral templates are still relevant

OR if they’ve become outdated!

As someone who absolutely loves structure and working with systems, templates have always been a core part of my workflow!

But…if I’m being honest—sometimes my tendency to hyper-optimize and fine-tune can get a bit out of hand.

And sometimes I find myself spending more time on the setup than actually writing music! šŸ˜…

So, I decided to create a new template from scratch but with the goal of finding a balance between a reliable structure regardless of project and enough flexibility to grow beyond the template itself.

It’s easy to forget that a template is just that…a template!

As big as they CAN get to cover all possible projects, they should really be seen as a starting point!

If you’re interested in seeing my process and want to try a similar approach, you can check out the video here šŸ‘‡

Why Musio?

(No, this isn't sponsored by Musio!)

More recently, I’ve noticed that when I sit down to write, I just tend to reach for Musio libraries.

They’re simple, lightweight, and intuitive—every library follows a similar interface.

And this makes it easier for me to get ideas down quickly with good-quality samples!

So with this template, starting with Musio gave me a consistent base to work from, which is ideal for the template I’m looking for!

And, of course, I can always add other instruments from different developers as I go.

I found this to be a flexible way to start without feeling weighed down by setup!

This whole video has been one of the most exciting projects I’ve done recently.

I’ve wanted to rebuild my Logic template from scratch for a while now and finally diving into it with Musio has been incredibly rewarding on a personal level!

I know templates seem outdated to some, but I still really believe in their value...

Especially when if we design them to intentionally be lightweight and functional!

I’m so excited to share my process with you, not just as a ā€œhow-toā€ but as a look into how I tackle my own workflow challenges.

Hope I can get you thinking about your own setup and find what works best for you!
