💪 Is Hard Work Overrated?

Are you finding fulfillment in your music creation process or has the hustle and grind been weighing you down?

Recently, I watched an hour long conversation between two of my favorite productivity gurus: Tiago Forte and Ali Abdaal!

Tiago Forte's PARA Method has heavily influenced the foundation of my Maestro Mind Planner. And Ali Abdaal is an incredible ex-doctor turned YouTuber who has recently released his new book Feel-Good Productivity 📖

This video is like worlds colliding as the two discuss the idea of productivity and challenge the notion that work must be a grueling, painful process (looking at you David Goggins 👀)

I really love learning about productivity, so I thought I'd share three major points that can resonate with any composer or musician!

  1. 😊 Create an Enjoyable Process: Abdaal emphasizes the importance of finding joy and fulfillment in our work. As musicians, we obviously love the music and creative side of things. However, when we have a tight deadline and haven't left the studio in hours....ask yourself, what's one thing you can do to make the process more enjoyable?!

  2. 🎨 Recognize Your Creative Identity: Abdaal also has this concept of "choosing your character." For musicians, this can involve exploring different genres, styles, or techniques to find what resonates most authentically! The way I see it, you need to reflect and hone in on your core strengths as a musician.

  3. ⏭️ Welcome the Joy of Progress: Musicians and composers can discover or rejuvenate their motivation by tracking their creative progress. Whether it's monitoring new compositions, skill development, or personal milestones, acknowledging growth and progress can enhance your creative journey!

All of these takeaways have something in common; to encourage a more joyful and sustainable approach to creativity!

So let me ask you, are you finding fulfillment in your music creation process or has the hustle and grind been weighing you down? 🤔
