Kris Bowers is quickly becoming one of my favorite composers—not just for his writing, but because he’s a true leader in our composing community.

For those who don’t know, his work on The Wild Robot is up for an Academy Award for Best Original Score! 🏆

If you’ve been following Kris on social media, you’ve probably seen how open he’s been about his scoring process. He’s been doing a ton of interviews, sharing behind-the-scenes insights, and giving us a look into how he works.

Just last week, he did a breakdown video with Variety of my favorite cue, I Could Use a Boost, where he walks through the Logic session for the track—an over-the-shoulder look at how it all came together!

Then yesterday he posted this on Instagram:

"One of my biggest breakthroughs as a composer came from studying the actual orchestral scores behind my favorite film cues. Classical scores are everywhere, but film writing is its own beast—and usually locked away in dusty archives or passed around composer circles in secrecy.

That’s why I’m so excited @dreamworks, @universalpictures, @chrissandersart, and @jeffphermannagram are letting me share, FOR FREE, some of my favorite cues from @thewildrobot, along with a peek at how I shaped these themes."

And with that, he shared a free PDF score link of some of his Wild Robot tracks.

Kris is right—studying film music shouldn’t be limited to a select few. It’s an art form so many of us love and want to embrace, and it’s incredible that he's making these resources accessible to everyone!

Such an inspiring move from one of the best in the industry right now! 🙌
