The other day, I saw this post on Threads from Michelle Renae asking for tips on marketing your music BEFORE it releases!

I thought this was such a great question (especially to ask on social media.)

First of all, she’s literally asking what her audience wants to see and how they might want to be marketed to! Not just making assumptions or spamming a pre-save link!

  • This method starts up a conversation while letting people know there’s a release coming!

Also, I’d say that having a pre-release marketing strategy is just as important (and impactful) as a post-release strategy. During the pre-release stage, you have nothing but the goodwill of your community to work with.

That means that you can use this time to let your audience IN to your process!

  • āŗļø Did you capture any behind the scenes moments in your writing or recording process?

  • šŸŽ„ If not, can you come up with a mini video series that you can share with your audience?

  • šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļø Can you set up a live Q&A to share the story behind the upcoming music?

The idea is to be open and vulnerable about your music! People love to connect with people and will likely follow along and listen when they feel like there’s a story they can connect with.

Not only that, but who knows? You might encourage other musicians and artists who want to release their own music!

With that said, what are some strategies you’ve used in the past to promote your own music?!

Michelle is a singer/songwriter and has her release of ā€œTo Stayā€ set for release next week June 13th, 2024.

I also have no affiliation with Michelle. Just loved her post on Threads and hope to give her some promotion! 😊
