As many of you might have heard, Musio has rolled out its biggest update yet, with a notable price drop. They call it: Musio 1 (Try Musio for Free!)
Here's a quick breakdown of my thoughts and what this means for composers as we head into 2024:
1. A More Accessible Musio The new pricing structure for Musio 1 is a game-changer. With an introductory rate of $299, Musio is making its library of over 1,500 instruments across 70 collections more accessible than ever!
2. The Old Model The old lifetime access model was definitely a major investment at $999. But you paid once and then got all updates and future libraries at no extra cost! Musio 1's price drop is significant but that old one-time payment for lifetime access is gone. Probably not the most sustainable business model!
3. Legacy Users: What's in Store? For those who invested in the old $999 lifetime access, you will still receive all future updates and libraries- it's a perk of being an early adopter!
4. Musio 1: Musio 1 guarantees access to all instruments up to the end of 2023. However, post-2023? Musio has hinted at catalog upgrades starting in 2024, but specifics regarding costs remain under wraps. I'm definitely curious to see what the upgrade cost looks like and how often upgrades are released!
5. Speculations and Future Thinking With the introduction of Musio 1, the door opens to potential future iterations - Musio 2, 3, and beyond. While this is purely speculative, the naming suggests that Musio might be planning tiered updates, each with unique libraries and offerings.
Musio 1 is a massive shift in direction and really the culmination of all the work Cinesamples has put in over the years! Definitely be sure to watch the video for my Musio 1 pros vs cons and overall thoughts!
