There's something really special about the textures and timbres you can get from the woodwinds. As I've grown as a composer and orchestrator- I've really developed a great appreciation for them!
And I think wind sample libraries are often overlooked in comparison to string or brass libraries. They've almost become this hidden gem for composers when they've always been right in front of us this whole time! So yesterday Spitfire Audio released a library that not only highlights the winds...but also offers a number of incredible worldly flutes that are out there!
Rare Flutes is the latest addition to the Spitfire Originals series and when I saw that release, I immediately recorded my first impressions! It's this unique library that differs from our regular orchestral flute lineup and it can add such a colorful palette to your music!
And of course, in classic Originals fashion... it's only $29!
Rare Flutes comes with 16 long and short articulations spread across 8 different instruments (including the fujara, pan pipes, and ocarina to name a few.) This library was also recorded dry so that you can get a super detailed, up-close sound OR run it through their super-reverb signal to get this long, ambient effect! You have a lot of control over your sound which I really like!
