Spitfire Audio has a few different piano libraries in their Originals series!

7 to be exact!

So in today's video, we compare 4 of the softer, more intimate pianos found in this collection so that you can decide which one is best for you and the sound of your music.

These are going to include the:

  • Cinematic Soft Piano

  • Firewood Piano

  • Felt Piano

  • Intimate Grand Piano

At first glance these pianos might all seem softer, more delicate, nearly the same (what's the difference?!)... and that's because they DO fall under that same type of category! So here's a quick overview of how they compare to one another:

After getting a chance to play through and listen to each piano, I can definitely see and hear the differences in the sampling, the studio location, and mic signals! Here are my takeaways from each library:

Felt Piano

  • Softest of the 4 pianos

  • Only one that offers ADSR controls

Cinematic Soft Piano

  • Comes with a variety of close to distant presets

  • However, is inherently a more resonant library

Firewood Piano

  • The most different of the 4 pianos

  • Offers an old-time, vintage sound allowing you to hear all of its little imperfections

Intimate Grand Piano

  • Offers the most in terms of number and flexibility of presets

  • Still has an intimate yet clear and distinct sound
