Apple has taken Logic Pro, their flagship music production software, and squeezed it into an iPad app. As of May 23rd, you can make beats, play instruments, record, and do your mixing right from your iPad, no matter where you are! The question is... is it a good solution for composers?

This app comes with a super intuitive interface that's designed for touch. You can play with software instruments, control plug-ins, and even navigate through your project easily. It also lets you open your GarageBand projects in it, so you can always take your tracks to the next level!
One of the coolest things is that you can use your Apple Pencil or a keyboard to make detailed edits and speed up your workflow. Plus, it's got this growing library of sounds and instruments that you can explore.

You can also shape the sound of your music with a ton of different instruments and effects. And if you want to make beats or create a custom drum kit, it's got you covered there too. The new beat breaker feature looks like a powerful tool to help deconstruct and reshape your melodies or sounds!
There's also a Pro mixer feature, which lets you adjust faders and other controls just like on a real mixing console. Plus, you can move your projects between your Mac and iPad easily, which is incredibly efficient if you're on the go.

But here's the thing...Apple is switching over to a subscription model of $4.99 a month or $49 a year, which leaves the question:
Is the macOS version of Logic Pro heading towards a subscription model in the future?
Keep in mind that this new version of Logic Pro is compatible with any iPad with the A12 Bionic chip or later and iPadOS 16.4 or later. So, if you're a composer with an iPad, be sure to check out my full video to learn more if this new Logic is right for you!
