Happy "End of Spoooooky Season"!
Today we're gonna take a look at the Newton Brothers' Main Title theme from the Haunting of Hill House! They did such a great job throughout the series to match their music to the emotions on screen. The show definitely falls under the horror category but the music outside of just the "sudden jump scare" chords is so memorable and a HUGE reason why I'm such a fan of the show!
A lot of typical or cliche horror music is all about the lead up to that jump scare and oftentimes most impactful when the music cuts out all together. BUT with this more heartfelt, suspenseful horror music, we're gonna be zeroing on the pain that comes with loss.
And this is gonna be thanks to a combination of the 4 foundations of music:
Melody

Rhythm/Tempo
Orchestration
